A pretty village just a few kilometres from Monemvasia,it was established about 150 years ago by inhabitants of the surrounding region.
The streets of this rural settlement are well laid-out, its many taverns and cafes hospitable, offering local dishes such as home-made pasta and various pies filled with wild greens.
Aghios Ioannis is close to sites of historic interest such as the the ruins of ancient Epidaurus Limera to the east, and the beaches of Kastraki and Pori, with views of the fortified rock of Monemvasia.

Just six kilometres from Monemvasia on the road to Molai, there is a crossroads. Turn to the north and continue on for two kilometres to reach Aghios Ioannis.
