One time is enough to visit the Castle of Monemvasia to fall in love with the route. As you enter the city you’ll come across the Giannis Ritsos Street which is named after the famous “son” and poet of this beloved town.
Another big road of the Castle city is the one that connects the southern Gate, which is the only gate of the castle towards the sea, with the Upper city. Legend has it that inside the Castle there were about 40 churches, most of which are still preserved, at the top of which the astounding view takes your breath away and overlooks the mountains of Crete.
